This special part of the Highlands has all the expected charm of the wild and untamed country, rich with history, sights to see and, wildlife on land, sea and on the wing!  There is Inverbrora Farm Cattle seen from Guest Housealso much to do, ranging from gentle walks along the miles of sandy beach to extreme sports, from mountain biking to surfing our impressive waves.

The Farm

Inverbrora is a working livestock farm with cattle and sheep.

 

Other Wildlife

Around the farm, the beautiful countryside and seaside features every imaginable habitat.  This leads to a wealth of animals that you can see as nature intended, from the deer in the glens to a wide variety of birds and even sea mammals such as our seals and the occassional visit from a bottlenose dolphin that makes it up from the Moray Firth.  Check out the wildlife section on the local visitor website in the Information pages [Go to Website].

Orkney

Many of our visitors take a day trip (or longer) to the Orkney Isles, just 60 miles up the main A9 road.  Orkney is actually an archipelago of 70 islands, around 20 of which are inhabited right now.  Orkney has a fascinating story, with 5,000 years of culture, there is history around every corner. Dunrobin Castle

A  visit to Brora must include the Castle, just 2 miles south down the A9 from the farm.  The historic seat of the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland hosts many activities including an impressive Falconry display  01408 633177 - [Go To Website].

 

 

Whisky

One of the town's attractions that is well worth visiting is the Clynelish Distillery that can be found a little west of the A9 as it heads north out of the village.  For the tourist season it is open Mon - Fri: 10am - 5pm. Clynelish Tel: +44 (0) 1408 623000 [Go To Website].

Golf

Brora is the ideal base for a golfing break.  Brora Golf Course was designed by James Braid, where little has changed since he left in 1923, it is still challenging to all standards but is it is relatively easy for a visitor to get a tee-off time and the club atmosphere is relaxed in this highly rated course.  Brora Golf Course Tel: 01408 621417 [Brora Golf website].  We are also only 20 minutes drive from Royal Dornoch [Go To Website].

 

Horse Riding

Brora

Brora is a lovely sea side village with a fascinating history from pre-history through crofting to the very beginning of the industrial era.  Nowadays it is an ideal base for tourism, just big enough to have all the facilities you may need with 2 petrol stations with garage services,  Co-op and Spar supermarkets, a library, restaurants, bars, and shops for the tourist and general supplies [Go To Website].
